Minnesota Furs: 2023 Spring Picnic

Hello MNFurs community! MNFurs is proud to announce that this year’s Spring Picnic is being hosted at the beautiful French Regional Park at the Skyview Picnic Area. Come join your fellow furs on Saturday, May 27th from 11:00 am to 7:30 pm and let our grillmaster cook you up some grub, and bring a dish to share for the potluck! This year’s Spring Picnic theme is a pre-launch for Furry Migration – DISCO FANTASY!

Want to help support MNFurs and the picnic? By making a $15 donation, you can receive a limited edition badge featuring artwork from a member of our community! You can also pick up some MNFurs merchandise, or simply donate directly. We accept both cash and credit/debit.

COVID Protocol:

Individuals are responsible for determining what COVID protocols are best for them. This means that masks are not mandatory, and while we strongly recommend vaccinations, they are not required. Individuals are still welcome to wear masks and take other precautions as deemed necessary.

Pet Policy:

The folks at French Regional Park would like us to remind you that if you plan on bringing your pet, they are required to be on a leash at all times, and you are expected to clean up after them. Please exercise caution when it comes to your pet interacting with other pets and other community members. If a pet is unsupervised, creating a significant disruption, or is deemed a nuisance, they may be asked to be removed from the venue in the interest of other attendees comfort and enjoyment of the event.

If you are planning on joining us this year, RSVP to help us know who’s coming! This is important so that we can get a rough count for needed supplies. The picnic this year will be hosted by Snap. Have questions or want to potentially promote a sub-event at the picnic? Email snap@mnfurs.org. If questions or concerns arise on-site, other MNFurs staff, board members, and convention staff will be available to help! For sharing what you’re bringing to the potluck, rideshare, and more, check out the forum.

More Information

Minnesota Furs is dedicated to building a safe community and providing educational opportunities for furs everywhere, but focused centrally in Minnesota. This includes providing regular meetings for members and supporting parties to gather together, educational experiences covering a variety of topics, volunteer chances to help support interests that are in line with the interests of many furs, and a chance to help show the positive and unique aspects of furry culture.

Social gatherings include events like furry bowling, fursuit romps, bi-weekly meetups at a few different locations, twice yearly picnics in the spring and fall, and several other community-led events. Educational endeavors have been expanding to include a new scholarship program, plans for a mentorship program, regular panels and discussions about a variety of skills both useful to general furs and about ways to express the unique talent and abilities of furs. Volunteering is also a huge part of the Minnesota Furs mission, assisting at many large events throughout the year, especially Como Zoo’s ZooBoo event.

The members of Minnesota Furs have a broad ranging skill set from event organization, negotiation, publications, business endeavors, and organizational skills. The non-profit hopes to help grow these skills both on a personal level and a community level to improve existing efforts and expand into new ways, providing a chance for the betterment of all. Minnesota Furs is dedicated to a vision of the future where furs are just another facet of life for local communities, assisting and spreading its message and support throughout Minnesota, and beyond.
