Cascadia Furs: September Meet

Our September meet will be at Cottonwood Canyon State Park! Come join us for a ranger lead talk, stargazing, potluck, marshmallow roasting, fishing, swimming, hiking, biking, camping and all around fun!

Cottonwood Canyon is Oregon's newest state park located a half hour from The Dalles in Eastern Oregon. It boasts brand new facilities, a phenomenal dark sky experience, river access for swimming, fishing and tubing and is the only state park where you can see bighorn sheep!

We have reserved the Experience Center from 8am-10pm. You are welcome to stop by any time or camp overnight with us. Grills, a refrigerator, coolers, binoculars and wood will all be provided. Overnight camping is optional and not a part of the meet itself.

Camping costs $10 per night. Walk-in sites are first-come, first-served. Drive-in sites require a reservation be made ahead of time. There is no day use fee. If you so choose you are welcome to bring food to share, camping equipment, inner tubes, picnic blankets, bikes, etc.

As always our meets are family friendly and if you wish to participate with the group/be in the group photo vaccines are required! Fursuits are not required. Anyone is welcome to join us in or out of suit!

Some things to keep in mind-
There is no cell service in the canyon and surrounding areas. A burn ban is in place. Please only bring gas burners that can be turned off with a valve. Eastern Oregon is also rattlesnake and tick country. Staying out of the tall grass will greatly reduce your encounters with these native critters. Tick spray is encouraged. Since this is a canyon the winds can be strong. If you are camping we highly recommend bringing stakes to hold down your tent.

Hope to see you there!
